Is it grey or gray? I sometimes get a bit confused.
I have a lot of friends in the US and I read a lot of American content, so their way of spelling has seeped into my world unexpectedly. “Gray” doesn’t pass Canadian spell check, and it’s the same in most other parts of the world. I feel the same when I write the words ‘colour’ and ‘favourite’ which are spelt differently in the US as well; color, and favorite. American spelling has been keeping me on my toes since I was a kid, so much so that I’ve stared a blog about grey interiors writing about spelling.
Anyway, let’s get back on topic. In Canada, January is one of the darkest and coldest months of the year. It really can be depressing. A January baby myself, I’ve embraced this time of year, because what else am I going to do? Sit in my house drinking tea, scanning Travelocity for vacation packages and putting summer clothes in and out of my Net-A-Porter basket. Umm yeah, I’ve been doing that pretty much all month.
A part of embarrassing January is embarrassing grey. It’s one of the most versatile neutrals and with all the hype around Scandi chic style, it’s inevitable. Grey can be a cold colour, but it’s all about how you dress it up. I love seeing it coupled with warm woods, and deep greens and blues. Take a look at these rooms that use grey like and make it feel May.
