Who we are
Roost & Frill is all about designing the life you want. It’s a space to learn, and find inspiration while laughing. While fun and giggles are our aims, we want to provide you with some important information so we are always on the same page.
What we collect and why we collect it
No creepers, ever!
We know signing up for another mailing list is not everyone’s cup of tea; however, we want you to be a member of our community so you can share your thoughts and ideas with us, and tell us what you want us to write about in a safe environment. Don’t worry, we’re not a bunch of spammers. We’re not going to send you anything other than our newsletter, and we promise to keep your information to ourselves. While we do gather some of your details, none of it is shared with outsiders – not even Nahla.
And now comments from the peanut gallery
We love comments and really want you to share your thoughts with us; however, any comment deemed inappropriate or negative, including general spam, offensive comments or rude language, self-promotional spam or other items unrelated to the post will be deleted without notice or explanation.
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. Please take a look at the Gravatar Privacy Policy if you do. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
The cookie monster
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
To provide the best browsing experience, Roost & Frill uses cookies and by visiting this site you are agreeing to the use of cookies. For more information on cookies or how to disable cookies, please visit The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Embedded content from other sites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Break-up rules
For users who sign up for our newsletter, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
You have the right to…
If you are a newsletter recipient or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Affiliates, Advertisements, and Sponsorship
To help support this site, and give us the freedom to write about what we love, we participate in several affiliate programs. This means that if you click on an affiliate link, go through to the retailer and purchase an item, Roost & Frill will receive a small percentage of your purchase. Adding affiliate links into a post is always the last step we do after a post is written and our ideas and opinions have been formed. We work closely with our brand partners to develop relationships and are very selective. We only post about things that we genuinely like and can highly recommend to our readers. All sponsored posts will be clearly stated as such.
It’s a rare occurrence, but we may accept sponsored content on Roost & Frill, which means that we’re financially compensated to publish a campaign or article. Any feature that Roost & Frill has been remunerated for will feature ‘AD’ in the title and will be marked ‘This is a Paid for Advertisement by X’ as the first line of the post.
We only recommend products that we genuinely love and would recommend to a friend, but we can’t guarantee that everything will work for you. We are not here to promote unhealthy consumption (fast fashion or fast design), so please take into account your situation wherever possible and test products out yourself before purchasing. Remember you don’t need to keep up with the Jones’ or Kardashian’s.
